About Patti

Patti Rath’s passion for all-things-beautiful in fabric was tailored by her studies at the Fashion Design, Art Studios, and Design programs at Southern Illinois University. But her career began as a child with private lessons with Beate to produce hand-stitched ball gowns and velvet coats for her Madame Alexander and Barbie dolls. (Exceptional tailoring skills began with suits and sportswear for Ken, Barbie’s boyfriend). Patti continued a life-long education with private tutorials in St. Louis with syndicated newspaper columnist and fashion advisor Eunice Farmer, in Chicago with the study of related disciplines, and in New York with Debbie Gioello, chair of Fashion Design at the Fashion Institute of Technology.

Extensive travels, particularly in Italy, have provided inspiration from top fashion houses and meetings with world-renowned tailors and couturiers, especially in Milan and Rome, and have added to the collection of fine fabrics available to her clients.

On-going studies, travels, and her wonderful clients encourage her designs to meet everyday needs, in work and play and for special occasions. P.Rath Couture designs have graced White House guests, Lincoln Academy honorees, Inspiring Women Galas, Little Black Dress lovers and black-tie events, St. Louis Symphony events, cathedral weddings and beach weddings, global gourmets and stay-at-home diners.
